Metal used to be a dirty word in New England, but this grand old theater -- and, more specifically, the suburban headbangers who frequent it -- were instrumental in launching the metalcore revival that sprung Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, and Unearth from dive bars to Ozzfest's mainstage. Even when the annual New England Metal and Hardcore Festival isn't in session, the Palladium is the venue of choice for national touring screamo, thrash, death metal, pop-punk, and horror-rap outfits. It is open to all ages, and prohibits pyrotechnics from performances, but serves alcohol (last call 1:45 am). Shows are booked upstairs and downstairs. Doors open one hour prior to showtime. Tickets available online, by phone at 800.477.6849, and at FYE stores.
