We love how the well-read staff of this independent book haven can deftly recommend best-sellers and obscure literary gems alike. But perhaps our favorite facet of the Brookline Booksmith is their ability to bring in big-name authors and celebs to hold court in their reading room or pack the house at the Coolidge Corner Theatre across the street. And take heed: should you go down into the basement, where they keep a treasure trove of used books, you won’t be leaving empty-handed.
