Alex Alvear has been a mainstay in the New England music scene for over 15 years both as a professional musician and as a Latino arts and culture promoter through his work with the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts. ALvear has performed extensively in almost every major venue in Boston, in clubs, festivals and concert halls within the region, nationally and internationally. His Afro-Latin-Funk ensemble Mango Blue performs original compositions by Alvear including songs of celebration and social conscience. Alvear collaborates with numerous artists and ensembles, as well as leading other projects of his own including: Equatorial, a body of work inspired by and based on traditional music of his native Ecuador and Manguito, a "Pocket-Size Salsa Orchestra" Alvear is also a member of the I-Level Collective, a collaborative project belnding Reggae, R&B, Funk and Latin with Thaddeus Hogart, Matt Jenson and Pablo Bencid
