Our critic cuts multinational chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten a lot of slack for being anointed by Michelin-starred chef Louis Outhier, who was anointed by the legendary Fernand Point; for writing his books with the estimable Mark Bittman; and for not being a Todd English about it. But go online and read the chef’s pre-opening promise to serve only wild seafood, and then look at what’s on the menu — something happened. You may not mind if you stick with gazpacho, crispy clams, slowly cooked salmon (not a wild fish), and market berries for dessert. Dress nice, bring earplugs.
